Newcastle Bright-cut Sterling Sugar Tongs, Dorothy Langlands,1804-1814

A nice pair of provincial bright-cut sugar tongs, by one of the most collectable women silversmiths, Dorothy Langlands.  Dorothy Langlands was the wife of John Langlands II and she took over her husband's business when he died in 1804.  She retired in 1814.  Like many pieces of smaller silverware from Newcastle, this piece doesn't have a date letter.
