Rare Australian Sterling Silver Emu Egg, EVAN JONES, Sydney, 1880s

This impressive Australian presentation piece was made in the 1880's by Sydney silversmith Evan Jones. It was presented to TH Chandler Esq by employees of the Newcastle Steamship Company in 1882.  Evan Jones was the main supplier of these sort of pieces to the Sydney market (William Edwards being the main supplier south in Victoria). It is a nice piece, although the egg does have a crack in it and a slight stain to the back of it. The sterling silver is in good condition. It measures approximately 27cm high.
