George Gordon and Company were working in Madras in the 1820s-40s. Their work is one of the most often encountered from this period in India (Hamilton & Co being the most common). This sifting ladle is very similar to the one pictured in Wilkinson's Indian Colonial Silver on page 45. This one has a nice period monogram of 'FC'.
Clearly marked with maker's mark only (as is to be expected for Gordon's work).
It measures approx 15cm long and weighs 47 grams.
