Straining Spoons were popular in the late eighteenth and early nineteenth century. They seemed particularly popular in Ireland. This is an Irish example in the Old English pattern, with a nice crest of a bird with a branch in its beak

. It was made in Dublin in 1806 by John Power.

It is in good overall condition, but it does has some slight damage along the stem (as pictured), this could have occurred during production.

It measures an impressive 33cm and weighs 157 grams.
