Kelantan in Malaysia, has a long and rich history of silversmithing, with the craft dating back centuries. Historically, Kelantan silverwork was closely tied to royal patronage and the production of both functional and decorative items. From the 1930s, the silversmiths largely catered to the tourist market and the foliage design seen on this set is a commonly found on smaller items of silver. This is the first time we've seen a full tea set. The set comprises of a teapot, coffee pot, twin handled lidded sugar bowl, milk jug, sugar tongs and a tea strainer and bowl all made of silver with various horn handles and finials. In good overall condition.

Signed in Jawi, a script based on Arabic.

The coffee pot is 17.5cm high. The set weighs a combined 870 grams.
