Frank Grady was a prolific silversmith (and jeweller) working in Wellington. Grady moved to Australian in 1880 before moving to New Zealand where he made and retailed top end pieces. He appears to have made three styles of these greenstone and sterling knife rests, one with a plain design, the second with engraved decoration and the other, such as this pair, with raised floral and fern motifs. In great overall condition. For for info and a similar exampe see https://collections.tepapa.govt.nz/object/1606106
