Collection: Other Colonial
The European countries had various colonies spread through out the world. As settlers built new lives, the demand for goods including silver, increased. Whilst a lot was imported from the home countries, some silversmiths also moved to the new areas.
Gibraltar is one example, although a small English colony, it had a number of silversmiths working there in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries.
Another example is the Ionian Islands, part of modern day Greece. They were ruled by the British Empire from 1815-1864. There are marks attributed to this time, but there is still more research to be done.
