Collection: Vintage Australian Silver
After World War 2, there were a number of larger firms that produced the bulk of Australia's domestically made silver. Pieces stamped for WJ Sanders, Prouds, Stokes and Mole all turn up in reasonable numbers from the first half of the century. There was a short-lived attempt at an Australian hallmarking system from 1923 to the early 1930s. The mark on sterling was a Blue Wren (and a Kookaburra on gold). A number of individual silversmiths emerged in the second half of the twentieth century, often in the arts and crafts style and with Australian themed decorations.
