Collection: Wine and other Labels
A popular collecting area in its own right, silver bottle labels (also known as bottle tickets) first appeared around 1740 in England. They were popular up until the late Victorian period and were still being made well into the twentieth century. There are three main categories of labels; Wine (or Drink) Labels, Sauce Labels and Toiletry Labels (the latter two are generally much smaller in size).
There is actually a society for people who collect and research label – www.winelabelcircle.org
