Following the death of his partner Thomas De Gruchy in 1846, John Le Gallais continued with the business alone. He was likely to be the last of the Jersey spoonmakers, but many of the spoons that he sold were the work of English silversmiths with a 'JLG' overstriking that of the original maker. John Le Gallais was in business until 1873. The business was continued by H. Hollinshed. This set of six teaspoons were made in London but decorated and overstamped by Le Gallais in Jesey. They hallmarked for London in 1858. They have the lovely Jersey-style bright-cut decoration and are monogrammed 'RML'. They are in good condition, with just some slight bowl wear and a bit thinly made as is often the case.
Hallmarked.
They measure just over 12cm long and weigh a combined 62 grams.
