Irish Provincial sterling sugar tongs made in Cork by Isaac Solomon. Isaac Solomon was one of the few Jews in Cork as the new century opened. He traded from 1801 as a silversmith and jeweller on St. Patrick’s Street, specialising in small items, such as spoons and cream jugs. He died in 1845. The tongs are in great overall condition, monogrammed with 'R'.
Clearly stamped 'I.SOLOMON' and 'STERLING'.
It measures just over 15cm long and weighs 42 grams.
