A 20th century small plain circular dish  with a raised central boss, set with
a Hampshire "one shilling" trade token (dated 1811), inscribed around the centre "SIR WILLIAM REARDON SMITH DONO DEDIT". 'Dono dedit' means 'a gift for...'

It was made by the famous silversmith and jeweller HG Murphy. It is hallmarked London 1933 and struck also with Murphy's Falcon Studio mark. It is in very condition the maker's mark is a little rubbed. 

It measures 12.5cm in diameter and weighs 128 grams.

William Reardon Smith (1856-1935) was an English ship owner and a major benefactor to the National Museum of Wales. He was created a baronet in the King's 1920 Birthday Honours in recognition of his shipping services during WW1.
