This impressive cup and cover was made in London in 1836 by Edward, Edward junior, John & William Barnard. but was presented a few decades later in New Zealand for a horse race, present by the Auckland Jockey Club in 1865. It has a colonial flavour with greyhounds and a sailor for a horse race! It is gilded internally and is in good, currently unpolished, condition.
Lid and Cup both hallmarked.
It measures 30cm tall and weighs a combined 925 grams.
