We have two Limerick basting spoons currently in stock. This example, with a celtic point and typical bright-cut decoration including an Irish star, was made by Maurice Fitzgerald, who was working Limerick 1760-1810. This piece would date to the 1790s we would estimate. It has a period crest of an arm holding a sword with a snake wrapped around it (probably for the Sheeky or 'Sheehy' family). It is in good overall condition, there is some slight wear to the bowl and the crest is a little rubbed, as are the maker's marks.
