William Henry Twentyman arrived in India in 1810 and was apprenticed to his uncle, John Hunt. He had a number of partnerships over the years. Twentyman and Co traded (with different partners at different times) traded between 1818 and 1853. This fish slice has the stamps for the later part of his business at 3 Hare Street, Caluctta. It is a solid fish slice, with some wonderful engraving of fish as decoration. These fish show the Indian influence in style. In good overall condition, there is a small nick to the stem.
Stamped to back.
It measures 32cm long and weighs 171 grams.
