The Birmingham assay office was opened in 1773. This pair of sterling silver tablespoons were assayed just a few years later in 1776. They were made by Edward Sawyer. They are a slightly different design to the standard Old English pattern and are monogrammed on both the front and the back. In good overall condition, one of the bowls is a bit misshapen.
Hallmarked.
They measure 21cm long and weigh a combined 106 grams.
