In the slightly over the top high victorian style, this impressive tea service was made in London in 1853 by Samuel Hayne & Dudley Cater.
It was present in Sydney in 1854 to Robert Allen Hunt Esq, from officers and letter carriers at the General Post Office when he was heading to England. Quite a token of esteem! Described in papers of the time (see last photo).
