The island of Nantucket was booming thanks to the whaling industry in the nineteenth century. There were a number of silversmiths working on the island, including the maker of these spoons, James Easton. Inscribed with the owner's names 'S & OB Meader'
They are in good condition.
They measure just under 22cm long.
Samuel Meader (pictured below) married Olive Black Parker in 1843, so these spoon were probably a wedding gift. He was a shipping captain who died from copper poisoning in 1867.
